so this may come as a shock, or maybe not since i have changed my mind about this many times since high school, but i am changing my major again.
i've been thinking about it for a while now. and i feel like its meant to be, like everything i've done up until now has lead me in this direction.
don't get me wrong, i love the dietetics program and i find everything really interesting, but i've been thinking about after college. and what kind of work i will be doing. will i really like working in a hospital? or a nursing home? or in a restaurant menu planning? or even in a doctors office? i wouldn't enjoy doing any of that. i don't get excited thinking thats how my life will be like. it seems too boring, and what if i do get bored with that? would i stay and be unhappy? or would i let my degree go to waste and do something that has nothing to do with dietetics?
so anyways, in my department, which is family and consumer sciences, there are three majors, dieteics, fashion merchandising, and hopitality/hotel restaurant management. i'm changing to hospitality/hotel restaurant management.
it works out really conviently too. classes i've taken already for dietetics overlap with what i need for hospitality. plus, there aren't as many random electives i need to take for this and the sciences got cut down from like 6 classes to 2 classes. if i play this out right, i will be done in spring 2009, a whole year earlier which i cant complain about, and i know my parents will be happy because its going to save like 15000 dollars.
so my goal with this degree is to have my own resort someday. its something that gets me excited and looking forward to the future instead of worrying if i'm going to like it or not. its something that i could be proud of, something that will keep me busy and not getting bored.
so this is my new plan, i just have to make an appointment with my advisor.

so its been like a month and a half since i've updated again. school is so busy. i was talking to someone tonite, and i was telling them how i've never felt this stressed about finals ever. high school i really didn't care, harper was a joke. now i feel like this matters and its real i guess. i'm doing really really well in all of my classes- i'm actually going to pull a b in chem i think.
so i just have finals this week and i'm coming home thursday afternoon sometime. i miss home. i only went home once this semester other than spring break. there really was no reason to ever come home.
i'm hoping i get some hours at country donuts this summer. it didn't sound too promising when i talked to them yesterday. i'm going to need to find a morning job if that falls through. i need money like crazy, i'm down to almost nothing. i make barely anything for teaching at the rec, but honestly i would do it for free, its so much fun. i passed my evals this past week and i get to teach on my own this week. i may be working at the little java house next semester. my sister will be gone so they need help and i've gotten to know the owner really well this semester. it would be lots of fun, decent money, back into my coffee house setting i love so much.
yeah this weekend is pretty lame. i hung out with my sister tonight, she took me out for my birthday. i had a rec center student employee appreciation party to go to tonight too. it was so lame. i got yelled at for trying to leave. what a joke. now i know not to go next year. i have a mandatory baby shower to go to on sunday night. thats lame too. who makes baby showers mandatory?? for real. like i have money to spend on someone i don't even like. tomorrow i'm planning on studying all day. i have three finals on monday. ick. two in the morning, teaching a class in the afternoon, and one final at night.
i just can't wait for finals to be over. wednesday nite me and jason are going to celebrate. we have a bunch of alcohol left that we want to finish up before we go home. i just need a night of relaxing, playing guitar hero and playing monopoly. that would make me content.

so this is the crappy thing of the week.
i lost my cell phone monday night. in my house. i stillllll can't find it. we moved the couch, we dug through the garbage, we moved everything, looked under everything, and nothing. its a big mystery.
so i had to call last night to have them send me a new one. 50 bucks. ick. when my phone is somewhere in the house.
yes, i have tried calling it. but i think the battery is dead now. i can return the new one after a week of getting it if i happen to find my old one.
i'm pretty sure it got flushed down the toilet. it's been clogging since yesterday.

more exciting news, i finally got my housing assignment for western in the spring! i got into bayliss, where i wanted to live. i have a single too. i was pretty excited about that.

well i gotta go now and take a nap so i can go to class in a bit.

oh yeah, and i got a 95 on my research paper. yay!

i decided today that thanksgiving break is too short. yeah, i still had class last week up until wednesday, but there just wasn't enough time to do everything and see anyone. it probaby didn't help that i've been working a lot too.

break was nice though. it was really good to have jason home for the whole week. i spent thanksgiving with his family, it was a lot of fun. we stopped by where my family was at. my family ended up coming over to jason's later because our family is so small now. i wish my sister came home for thanksgiving, but atleast ill see her for christmas.

friday me and jason went downtown and went to cereality, a cereal bar. it was really cool, my kind of place. i'm making a box of custom cereal for my sister for christmas. we ended up just walking around downtown and then we ran into katie and her family.

school is almost out for break. its so close but i feel like its going to drag a lot. two weeks (8 days) of classes left. then finals. i really want to know my grades for this semester. i know i didn't hold a 4.0, i'm back to my regular grades again. have i ever mentioned how much i hate macro? yeah. i hate it a lot.

i'm starting christmas shopping today. i know what i'm going to get everyone. now i just have to buy it.

well thats all.
hope everyone had a good thanksgiving and a good break.

so this weekend was really awesome.
i wish weekends never had to end.

thursday, i met jason down in peoria and we went to the brad paisley concert with a few other friends from wiu. really good show. carrie underwood and jake owen were there too.
we headed back to wiu and then my parents came friday afternoon and we spent the weekend with my sister and lindsey.
i took the train home this morning and then it was back to reality, going straight to work this afternoon.

as awesome it is to visit on weekends and stuff, it just really sucks when it has to end.
i cant wait until i never have to say goodbye, or take the train home alone, or drive home alone.
next year is going to start off perfect.
i can't wait.

so its been about another month since ive updated.

like i thought, my cell phone bill racked up a lot this month. $360. oops. its ok though. now i know, lol.

i have to say that school is actually kind of hard this year. and more stressful. only some of the classes though. 3 out of my five are tough. my other two are easy/fun.

i spent this past weekend at western. went down friday afternoon, came home this morning. it was a really good trip, me and jason went to keokuk to his aunt and uncles cabin and went out on their boat all saturday. it was too cold to water ski, but it was still lots of fun.
its really rough being apart and going from seeing someone everyday and then just seeing them two or three weekends out of a month. i knew it was going to be hard, but its just depressing, is what it is. nothing is really motivating. i find myself hating school a lot. just because i dont want to be there anymore. it was so hard to leave this morning. there was nothing really to come home to. or for.
so i'm hoping my parents go along with my new plan. hopefully it won't take too much convincing.

its been so long since an update. my computer was broken most of summer, and i've just been too busy to even care to update.

so school has started, first days of class always suck, i was having bad feelings about pretty much all of my classes. but after having the second days, i feel a whole lot better about them. math seems tough though. not really tough, just confusing and head ache causing. lots of logic involved, and i have very little number logic. im lovin the honors class though, there is only seven of us. its pretty cool, and different.

we moved jason into school last weekend. yes, i did cry a lot. it sucks going to different schools, especially schools that are so far apart. i know we're going to make it through though, its just going to take a lot of trust and a lot of patience. my phone bill is going to rack up pretty quickly though. eek.

im still transfering next year, i have to go to see an advisor to see what universities would be best for my major, since i changed my mind from teaching to nutrition. western offers a program. isu does too. it would be so so so nice to be at western with jason, and i wouldnt say i would be going there just for him, because i have had thoughts of going there, especially last year. i just dont want to be one of those girls that goes to the school their boyfriend is at. even though i wouldnt completely be one of those girls. but a lot of people would look at it like that.

well i have to go do homework. its probably going to be another couple of months until i update again.

hello.
i am happy to say that i am well rested and not exhausted all the time anymore.
i think this is because jason is in italy/france/spain for 2 weeks.
he left the fourth and is coming back next tuesday.
i've been keeping super busy to keep the time going fast, incorporating sleep in there as much as possible. and i'm not very proud to say this, but lately this past week, showering has been last on my list. not that i wait to take a shower until i smell horribly, its just i have no one to look nice and smell nice for for another week.

and you know, its not like im so tiredly miserable when he is home. i feel okay when i am tired, i just look really really deathly tired.
im not used to this looking awake look. but im also not going to bed at 2am or 3am every night either.

before he left we went to the taste.. summerfest.. and did a bunch more things because once he comes home, theres only about a month till move in day at wiu.

so anyways, i haven't updated in a while. i've still been working a lot.
today i actually applied for a job at harper. as a student aide. you do office work type stuff. and its mon-fri. no weekends! woo hoo! time to go visit people and not have to take off work and lose out on lots of hours.

this week is play catch up with people week. im seeing mary ellen tomorrow! and alicia on wednesday. its been so long. this summer is ridiculously busy.

wednesday we have our appointments to alter our bridesmaids dresses. so exciting. im so excited for everything. its in a month. i have a month to make my m.o.h. speech. the shower i threw for my sister yesterday was awesome. not to brag or anything. but i'm surprised i threw such a good event practically alone.

well anyways i have to get going and take a shower. (notice its like 9:30, like i said its last on my list . ha. i swear i don't smell too too bad.)

so summer has been amazing so far. ive probably said that so many times, but its true. its been full of surprises too. i love it.
last week jason was at work at his security job and a papa johns delivery car was flagging him down. he needed directions. so jason told him where to go, and while talking he made friends with the delivery guy. and got him to deliver out to us, even when they don't because its too far out of the way. that was the surprise monday night.
my week last week consisted of not working much. playing frisbee golf. going mini golfing. going swimming at meinike for free. then the dells on thursday and friday. what an amazing trip. were going to make it an annual one. but cut out the tequila next time.
i saw garfield 2 saturday. that also was an amazing time.
then sunday was the super surprise night. we went to blueman group, it was a surprise for lindsey. dinner was a surprise for me and lindsey. i had no idea. and then we turn the corner and leona's was there! last night was amazing. blue man group was so much cooler than i thought it was going to be.
tonight we are going on a mini camping trip. my first time :)
i love summer.
lets hang out.

long update. because it's been a while since i've had a long update.

i think every single weekend in my summer is going to be an amazing one. so far something awesome has happened and it seems like its going to stay that way, until july atleast.
this past weekend me and my family went to a wedding. it was the first wedding i went to with a "brittany barrett and guest" on an invite. of course, i brought jason. we had an amazing time. it was at a mansion and it couldnt have been more beautiful. i cried so much during the ceremony. i wasnt even expecting to. but ive known the bride since i was born and it was just really weird watching her get married. it just seems so young, shes only 22. and its weird because im 19 and thats only 3 years difference. the age seems so young to get married, but right now it seems so crazy to think about it at 19. i dont even know what im trying to say, but i understand it in my head. i guess what im trying to say is 22 seems so so young to marry, especially when theres only a 3 years difference to you and the bride? i guess thats what i mean. anyways, the wedding was like a 10 year reunion, a lot of people from our old neighborhood we were friends with were there, and it was just weird because i havent seen any of them since i was 6! anyways, the dinner was yummy, the open bar was really nice, and i dont think i have ever had so much fun dancing with anyone in my life. jason was a really awesome date, especially for not knowing anyone at all besides my family at the wedding.
that night, i went home, slept for less than 2 hours. and got up and went to work at 3am. hahah. and i wasnt even that tired at work. yeah, im working the 3am shift on saturday mornings for the summer. but i get paid really well so its worth it. like i told ted, i do very well with little sleep.
saturday was pretty much a sleeping day , and then i had to go work 7 to midnight at work again. talk about a screwed up work schedule that weekend.
but it was all good because then i got sunday off and it was jason's graduation. we ate breakfast at eggclectic and then i went to his graduation. last night we went out with his family for dinner to celebrate. very fun weekend.

i started summer school yesterday. it really wasnt that bad, it was very bearable. but i did decide last night im going to drop it today because here is my logic: 1. im not getting my associates anymore from harper, so i dont need to worry about all the classes i need to take in the fall and spring of next year. summer school is to get ahead to get your degree, but if im not getting one there, why am i wasting 7 hours a week of my summer i can spend in a much better place, like my bed? or outside? 2. it was over 400 dollars. that is ridiculous. so we get a full refund now. and it will pay almost half of next semester. for 5 classes. that just kills me how much it is to take summer classes compared to regular year classes. 3. not a very important reason, but without summer school, i can work more weekday mornings at work and have more weekends off, which i need because of all this things going on this summer.
next week i needed two days off for the dells. did i mention im sooooo so excited for that? the following weekend me and jason are going to iowa to stay the weekend in his aunts cabin. the following week, jason is leaving for italy. for 2 weeks. :( when they get back were going back to iowa with his whole family for a bday party. then its his graduation party. then its my sister's wedding. its so soon. im so excited. everything is really coming together. the shower is all planned out. everything is almost done. its so exciting. that weekend is going to be so much fun. were leaving schaumburg that thursday for zion and were not coming back until late saturday. its like a mini vacation. after that weekend, the next weekend is jason's move in, and im going for that too.
busy busy summer. and im glad summer school isnt a part of that anymore.
i have to go to the doctor this week. i dont want to say why because i dont want to jinx anything. because i hope i dont have it again. or if i do, i caught it early enough where it will go away soon. ick.
well thats all. i have to go do lots of things now, i have a pretty busy day. i hope it doesnt rain like it looks like its going to though. bummer. i wanted to go swimming.

i had an amazing weekend.
amazing.

friday me and jason went to great america for the first time this summer. it was awesome because it wasnt even busy. i dont think i had more fun going with anyone there before. started a little of my summer tan.
saturday we went to opening day at meinike. it was soo hot out and the pool felt amazing. i did some diving boards too. got some more of my summer tan.
monday was our four month and i made a surprise picnic for him. it was so pretty by the lake and everything. then he surprised me and got me a claddugh ring. its so pretty.
things are perfect.

oh, and to add to the awesomeness, jason's parents ok-ed us on going to the dells together in a few weeks. how hot is that?

this week and next week i need to catch up with some other things. this weeks already so busy tho with the wedding on friday and stuff . and working super weird shifts at work. ugh.
summer school starts on monday too. i need to get my book still.

well im going to nap now before i go to spinning. im sleepy.

im kind of done with school. i have to go to speech in an hour and a half but i dont have to do anything but listen to speeches.

that is all, my first year at harper is done.
i had my math final this morning. i was really worried about it for some reason. last night jason helped me study until midnight. he's amazing. i didnt even ask him to help me out at all, he just did. he's great.

i saw an advisor yesterday. im not getting out of harper in two years. i have to stay 3 more semesters and transfer mid year. im not really happy about it, but i'd rather take a normal amount of classes and pass than take too many classes and just get by. it wont be so bad. im just worried im going to not want to transfer after another year and a half. ill feel stupid. not like stupid, like weird. i dont know, i cant really explain it. i know some people at school that know what i mean though.

i went on a huge bike ride this morning. i dont know how many miles it was, but it was loooooong. my legs ache.

well i have to go shower and go to school.

happy summer ;)

school is over very soon.

i am ecstatic.

big speech monday.
english final wednesday.
math final the following wednesday.

thats it.
i will be half way done with my harper career.
and im pretty sure i got another 4.0 this semester.

my birthday is in a few days, it still doesnt feel like it.
you know how when you are little and its like, February 6th, and you're like, ahhh my birthday is in 3 months!!! yeah its not like that anymore when you are older.

right now i am semi-sick, but getting better thanks to cold-eeze. i didnt sleep very well last night though, mostly because of my stuffy nose.

my new thing in life is going on long walks. i want to do walks too. me and jason have been taking long long walks many nights a week lately when it's been nice enough out. we did 4.6 miles last night. were working on making up a walk longer that five miles for next week.

well i have to go practice a little speech i have to do today. pretty much im bribing the class.
and were pretty much gambling in class too.

gambling and bribery, how scholarly.

i must say, yesterday was the best day i had in a long time. it was perfect. i dont even care about the fact that i was up at 4am and went to bed at 2am. all 22 hours of my day were wonderful.
me and jason spent all day down at navy pier. i love chicago. we had so much fun. the weather was great too. im having a hard time putting this into words now. later on we colored easter eggs and watched elf. how contradictory.
and everyone in my family knows my birthday surprises from jason too. im going to be good and try not to get it out of anyone, but according to my sister i have the bestest, most sweetest boyfriend ever.
eeeee what can it beeee!! i have to wait longer than my birthday to find out because hes planning it for the weekend after my birthday because were going to be at u of i for my birthday. which by the way i am VERY excited about.
ok i have to go shower now, i have easter stuff in an hour. and then i have to work the rest of easter. oh well. too bad we dont get paid time and a half though.
